Austin comes from a family of men and women who have served in various fields of public safety and military service. Austin is continuing his family’s tradition of public service as a volunteer with DeKalb County Fire Rescue Reserve (DCFRR), DeKalb County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), and DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency (DEMA). He also has Asperger’s syndrome. His obsession that steams from his Asperger’s is public safety and emergency preparedness. He has made his obsession into a passion and his passion into a career.
Austin is a certified and experienced Skywarn Storm Spotter, Ham radio operator, Community Emergency Response Team Instructor. He is currently pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice at Gwinnett Technical College and hopes to one day pursue an EMT certification and certification as a State of Georgia Emergency Manager. He brings a wealth of knowledge to Spirit of Autism with years of research and experience in emergency preparedness and as an adult with Autism.
