Our role as parent and/or teacher is to create a safe, enriched, balanced, loving, peaceful environment where our children 
can flourish.
While I enjoy the part of my calling that helps identify and discuss many of the challenges and issues in the life of a child with Autism, today I wanted to take an opportunity to share 15 unique and positive characteristics about my son. I hope you can relate to them and appreciate similar attributes in the gifted child or children in your life.
- Has a magnetic personality
- Affectionate
- Very musically oriented, can hear a song once on the radio and play it on an instrument
- Even-tempered, sweet, and loving
- Forgiving of others
- Highly sensitive
- Connected to nature and weather
- Helps with mechanical items around the house
- Extremely artistic and creative
- Fearless explorer
- In-tune with what he wants
- Always honest and authentic
- Remembers details – names, directions, etc.
- Filled with wonder at the simplest of things
- Reminds me that my “rush” timing is not the ideal way to operate – he’s always in the “now”
Lovely. Wonderful post. So many times I see parents who are so angry. There are alot of wonderful things about a chile with Autism. Temple Grandin said something to the effect that she would not take her Autism out of herself. If I could have children without Autism, I wouldn’t. They have made me who I am. Thank you!

Wonderful website. Filled with terrific information. I think your writings on the “15 unique, positive things I appreciate about my child” could be used by every parent.
